ABOUT BRANCH
All You Need to Know
THE COUNCIL
For the past four years, Branch has had an all woman council. The members are Mayor Kelly Power, Dept. Mayor Alice Mooney, and councilors Angeline Power, Mallory McGrath, and Lorna English. The town clerk is Gussie Power. The council has done a lot over their term on council. They have been working hard to get our roads fixed and safe again. As you can see, Branch has a wonderful council!
HISTORY OF BRANCH
The first settler of Branch was Thomas Nash, a fisherman, and boat builder from Callan in County Kilkenny, Ireland. In 1765, Thomas arrived in Caplin Bay, on the Southern Shore. A year later, Thomas  got a boat going and he left Calvert to go fishing up Cape St. Mary's. He got to Branch and noticed that the salmon was plentiful. He thought it would be a better place to fish, so he stayed there. His family began to join him in Branch, and they remained living there.
BUSINESSES AND IMPORTANT PLACES
For a small community, we have very good Businesses. There is Careen's Gas Bar, which has a restaurant, called The Loft. The post office, gas pumps and a convenience store. Branch also has another convenience store, called Nick's takeout and groceries. Branch has a community center that holds many events. A Basketball court, and they are working on a playground. There is the Driftwood Cottage and Yellow Door Cottage, which are beautiful homes you can stay in. There is also a home based kennel in Branch, called Windy Meadows Kennels. You can buy dogs or bring your own dog over, and they will take good care of it while you are away. As you can see, Branch has many wonderful businesses!
